Now that we are more than 2 weeks into the new year (by the way, is it just me, or is this January really flying?), I have started to seriously consider how I am going to achieve all the goals I set for myself.
One of the most popular themes that I kept seeing through the past week was vision boarding. Now, I have never had a vision board.
I have made many goal lists, cards, and even notes, but having a visual representation of what I want is not something I have tried before. In fact, to be honest, I have always considered it to be a little cheesy, a very ‘forever-16’ concept.
But, this is the year we break out of boxes, the year of no rules, so that means doing something even if we used to think it was for teenagers. So I said, alright, I am making a vision board.
Then came the second problem; how to actually make a vision board.
Some sources said get magazine cut-outs, some said to build a scrapbook, others said to go on Canva. It was honestly starting to seem like a lot of trouble and I came close to tossing the idea. At the last minute, I resolved to take my own advice; keep it simple.
On my podcast, I once made an episode about starting small. I remember saying that when you have a big dream, all you need to do is answer one question,
“What can I do right now? What do I have right now?”
I realized I had two things that would be more than enough; Pinterest and a phone.
So I made a list of the things I want most this year, went on Pinterest, and found pictures that closely represented each of them. Okay, images check.
Now the third problem, where do I put the pictures?
I am an absolute sucker for a good DIY hack, so I stayed with the keep it simple theme. All the pictures were right there in my gallery, and by some form of serendipitous hand, I noticed they had formed a collage.
So here is what happened next. I took a screenshot and slapped it on my phone’s wallpaper.
2022 vision board, check, in like 10 minutes flat
Now, every time I pick up my phone (which is more than a few times a day lol), I am instantly reminded of everything I want. I feel inspired, motivated, that it will happen. The only question I have now is, why didn’t I do this sooner?
By the way, yes, that is Lori Harvey. Don’t ask any more questions.
When I thought of what to share here this week, I really did not plan on showing you this vision board. I wanted to keep it to myself, so if it doesn’t work at least nobody would know about it. Then, I realized there is one more thing I want to kick to the curb this year that is not on that board. It is my fear of being seen because when people see you, they can judge you.
I am deciding to show up, me and my Lori Harvey fantasies.
Let me know in the comments if you decide to build your own vision board, and what you are putting on it.
Cheers
Zully
PS. Recommendation of the Week
This reel is the only thing I have to show you because this is exactly what I have done all week.
