On Thursday night, I opened my mailbox and saw that I had gotten mail from the Proctor Gallagher Institute.
The minute I read the subject, I had a knowing feeling
“A message about our dear friend Bob Proctor”
Opening the email to see this picture confirmed it.
As I scanned that announcement email, I also did a quick mental scan.
I was looking for that first feeling of grief, the one that hit me the night I heard Kobe Bryant died (even though I’ve never seen a full basketball match-that feeling).
Surprisingly, that feeling didn’t come. Instead, only one thought came to my mind.
“Bob Proctor lived tf out of life.”
You might not know who he is, so I’ll rewind a little.
Back in 2020, I was in the middle of a freaking scary episode. Covid. School strikes. Homeless. Business failing. Messy personal life. Not quite here, not quite there.
I felt lost like the ground was shifting under my feet and I didn’t know where to go.
A couple of days before my 23rd birthday, I’m on Instagram and I see this old white guy in a suit talking about something called the Law of Attraction. At first, I was like, “well fuck that, it’s woo-woo shit.”
The next day, another video about the same Law of Attraction pops up on my timeline. So I finally thought okay, okay, maybe there’s something here.
I went on YouTube, typed Law of Attraction in the search bar, and the first video that popped up was of the same old white guy in another suit. He had the whiteboard out and everything, breaking down all these concepts about how the mind, thoughts, and human beliefs can shape your life. That’s how it started for me.
I started learning everything from Bob Proctor’s videos. I signed up for his 6-Minute to success daily videos. I even created my own podcast talking about all the things I was learning. I did 125 episodes of that podcast, showing up every single day to share lessons I got from him, and even now I am converting all that content into a book. He had a heavy impact on my journey to being here today, having the confidence to write this.
Bob was an 88-year-old guy who would always say he had more energy than most 30-year-olds. He spent more than 60 years teaching millions of people (from literally everywhere) and turning their lives around. He did everything that he came here to do.
When I think about how I want to go (when I’m past 88 for sure; in fact, I think I might want to hit 90 before I dip), this is exactly it.
This is what I want someone to say about me, that I changed everything for them, that they found meaning because I existed, that I lived tf out of life.
Thank you, Bob.
Cheers,
Zully
